Economics Society
The Department of Economics along with the Economics' Society conducts a number of activities. It organizes a series of lectures titled Distinguished Lecture Series and technical workshops under the title of Fabrica to encourage and motivate students to take up higher studies in economics. The Society is also responsible for conducting Freshers' Day , Farewell and Picnic.
Over the last seventeen years, the Society has been organizing the Annul Economics Summit, BLISSPOINT. In 2005 the event went national and in the year 2009-10 it went international, with teams from colleges abroad that included, the Lahore University of Management Sciences (Pakistan), Independent University (Bangladesh), Pedjajaran University (Indonesia), Sherubtse College (Bhutan) and Sabaramugawa University (Sri Lanka). Numerous teams from across the country, as well as from the constituent colleges of University of Delhi also participated in the event.
Some prominent economists who have graced BLISSPOINT to deliver inaugural lectures and speeches are Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prof. K. L. Krishna, Dr. M. Govinda Rao, Prof. Partha Sen, Prof. Prabhat Patnaik, Prof. A. M. Khusro, Dr. Ashok K. Lahiri, Dr. Kirit S. Parikh, Prof. Kaushik Basu, Dr. Subramanian Swamy, Shri. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Prof. Abhijit Sen, Prof. Jayati Ghosh, Shri. Jai Ram Ramesh, Prof V.R. Panchmukhi, Dr. Isher Judge Ahluwalia, Prof. B.L. Pandit and Dr. Prem Vashistha.
