Economics Alumni Council
The Economics Alumni Council works under the guidance of the Alumni Association of the College. The students of our Department are admitted in various academic, business, banking and management institutions and organizations worldwide. Many of our recent pass outs are in esteemed economics and management institutions like Delhi School of Economics, GIPE, IGIDR, ISI, Jawaharlal Nehru University (CESP & CITD), MSE, TISS, University of Delhi (South Campus), University of Hyderabad, CRISIL, FMS, IIFT, Indian Institutes of Management, Narsee Monjee, S P Jain, Symbiosis and XLRI, . Our students have also got admission in prestigious institutes abroad like ANU, Boston, Cambridge, Columbia, Frankfort, LSE&P, NUS, Princeton, Oxford, Warwick, Yale, Harvard Business School, HEC Paris, London Business School and Virginia.
Output
The Department has produced more than 1000 Undergraduates in Economics since it began offering B.A (H) Economics in 1973. The alumni of the Department are in key positions in Academics, Government, Non-Government Organizations, Corporate Sector, Multilateral Institutions and International Developmental Agencies in India and abroad. Our distinguished alumni continue to inspire the current students by providing career counseling and guidance.
The Department salutes Shri T. N .Rao, Shri. Nehchal Singh, Dr. E. K. Rao, Dr. A. Tirupati Raju, Shri. R. Thulsidas, Dr. M. Padma Suresh (Since 1982), Shri. V. A. Ramaraju (Since 1982) and Smt. Aruna Rao (Since 1983) for their distinguished services for more than three decades with dedication, devotion and commitment in imparting quality education to students, which has laid down strong foundations for a vibrant academic atmosphere in the Department. The above mentioned Teachers are a source of inspiration and role models to the current generation of Teachers. We shall endeavor to preserve the vibrant academic atmosphere created by our distinguished faculty past and present.

The following chart provides sanctioned intake by the University and actual intake (output i.e. degrees produced) for the period 1981-2010
The sanctioned strength has been Twenty Five (25) since 1973. With the implementation of reservation to OBC, the sanctioned strength has increased to Thirty Nine (39) from Twenty Five (25) in Three (3) phases beginning from 2008-2009. Currently the Sanctioned strength of the Department is Thirty Nine (39).
It is clear from the above chart, that in the last 27 years (1981-2010) the Department has produced more than 1000 HIGH QUALITY undergraduate degrees against a sanctioned number of Six Seventy Five (27*25= 675). It is very clear that the Department has operated more than 50% above its capacity (on an average) as the actual output (degrees produced) is 50% more than the potential output (sanctioned intake by the University). In the last four years (2006-2010) the Department produced 221 Undergraduate degrees against a sanctioned number of 100 (25*4).
