Vision & Mission Statement
With the Indian Economy poised to become the largest (on PPP basis) in the world by 2050 surpassing USA (2040) and China (2050) (Financial Services Group: CITI Report (February) 2011- Global Growth Generators authored by Willem Buiter & Ebrahim Rahbari), the need for High Caliber Economists for Economic Analysis and Policy Making cannot be emphasized enough. The Department is on a MISSION (Mission 2050) to meet the future demand for high caliber Economic Policy Makers by providing strong foundations in Economic Theory, Mathematics and Statistics at the undergraduate level itself.
The faculty endeavors to preserve the vibrant academic atmosphere and continue to provide high quality Economics education both theoretical and practical to current and prospective students through quality Teaching, Technical Workshops, Seminars, Conferences, Distinguished Lectures, Field Visits, International Academic & Cultural Exchange, International Undergraduate Economics Students Summit (BlissPoint)etc. to meet the future demand for policy makers and make them compassionate individuals to tackle the current and emerging national and global problems/challenges with optimism, confidence and resilience.
Therefore the Department strongly encourages only those students to apply for B.A (Honours) in Economics, who have keen interest in studying Economics/Public Policy further at Graduate and Doctoral level and become Policy Makers to play key role in Public Policy Making for Overall National Development, National Defense, Internal & Border Security and National Integrity of India, to make India the Strongest Nation of the World.
