Message from Teacher in Charge

The Faculty and Students of the Department of Economics welcomes First Year Students. With the increasing demand for B.A (H) Economics Programme of Sri Venkateswara College, the Department admitted 65 students against sanctioned seats of 39. The Department has filled all seats under OBC, SC and ST reservation.

The faculty endeavours to create a vibrant academic atmosphere. This requires the cooperation of students particularly the first year students. The Department gives top priority to the discipline both inside the class room and outside. Students are expected to attend the classes regularly and maintain pin drop silence in the class room to maintain the decorum of the class room for smooth conduct of the classes for their own benefit. Any kind of indiscipline will not be tolerated and stern disciplinary action will be taken on those who indulge in indiscipline activities.

The College is Celebrating the Golden Jubilee Year during 2010-2011. The Department shall release its annual calendar of events. The Department & Economics Society will conduct Annual Economics Festival, Academic cum Cultural Exchange, Distinguished Lecture Series and Fabrica (Technical Work Shops), these programmes are highly academic and are organized mainly for the benefit of students. Therefore your active participation is must for the success of all the events of the Department.

The Department has launched a new webpage which aims to disseminate up to date information about the activities of the Department for effective use by the stake holders i.e. students, alumni, parents, researchers and general public. You can find information about our Achievements, B.A (Honours) Economics Course Details, Distinguished Visitors, Faculty, International Academic & Cultural Exchange, International Undergraduate Economics Students Festival (BlissPoint), Lectures/Seminars/Workshops/Conferences etc.

On behalf of the Faculty and Students I once again welcome you all and wish an intensive learning experience to lay down the foundations for higher studies and career building.
