Successful candidates for courses will be classified on the combined results of Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 examinations as follows:

  • First Division         -   60% or above marks in the aggregate
  • Second Division    -   50% to below 60% in the aggregate
  • Third Division        -   40% to below 50% in case of B.A.
                                         Hons./B.Com. Hons./ M.A./ M.Sc.

Twenty-five percent of the total marks in a course, in both main and concurrent, are awarded on the basis of continuous internal assessment. This break up is as follows:

  • 75% University Examination
  • 25% Internal Assessment as follows:
  • 10% Assignment including Project Work
  • 10% House Examination       
  • 5% Regularity in Attendance

  • In case of a 50/80-mark paper percentages will be accordingly scaled.

Students failing at the end of the first or second or third year examinations will not be readmitted. Only students who have passed or are promoted to the second/third year will be allowed to continue in the second/third year of the college.


Attendance and Internal Assessment
Attendance requirements are very strictly adhered to at SVC. Students of all courses are required to complete 66.6% of the total lectures and tutorials separately in theory and practicals, in both main and concurrent course papers, to appear for the University Examination.   Attendance may be checked at the College Administration  Branch  or  at  the  college  website http://svc.ac.in at the end of each term.

  • Rules governing attendance framed by the University from time to time will be enforced.
  • Students who obtain an aggregate of at least 55% attendance in the I and II Year combined only will be permitted to appear in the Second Year Examination.This is to ensure that students sent up to final year have no difficulty in completing the required attendance.
  • Students transferred from B.A./B.Com/B.Sc Honours to the B.A./B.Com/B.Sc Programmes shall be required to log in the requisite attendance in lectures, practicals and preceptorials. For further details, please contact the Section Officer Administration.
